Fresh shine for sticky challenges
How Reshine Sport supports cleaning at the Kreuzbleiche halls
Sports halls are places full of energy, movement and emotion. This is particularly true of the Kreuzbleiche sports halls in St. Gallen – a complex consisting of a four-court hall and two smaller units.

Every day, hundreds of schoolchildren and club athletes train there. The primary sport is handball, which involves lots of throwing, catching and sweating. It is played with resins to aid grip and these resins leave hard to remove deposits on the floors, lines and glass surfaces. Cleaning? A demanding task – but reliably manageable with Wetrok’s Reshine Sport maintenance and deep cleaner.
“Handball without resin? Impossible,” says Werner Lenherr, who has worked at the halls for 25 years and is now head of the Kreuzbleiche facility. “The grip aid improves handling, allowing for precise throws and spectacular moves.” At the same time, however, it presents a challenge for the cleaning team: residues must be removed in such a way that the floor is no longer sticky and can be used immediately for the next session. And all this must be done efficiently, cost-effectively, and without leaving behind traces that could damage the flooring in the long term.
The day begins at half past four
Cleaning at Kreuzbleiche begins at 4:30 a.m. – long before the first ball is played.
The nine-person team relies on the two-step scrub-vacuuming method, using a scrubber-dryer with red pads and the cleaning agent Reshine Sport.
First, the affected hall sections are sprayed with a manual sprayer, applying a high dosage of Reshine Sport. Stubborn residues can also be treated selectively with a window scraper, providing the ideal complement to machine cleaning.
The cleaning solution is then evenly applied to the hall surfaces with the scrubber-dryer. A crucial point: during the entire reaction time of around ten minutes, the surface must remain completely covered with liquid. Only then can Reshine Sport fully release its cleaning power and effectively loosen resin deposits.
In the second step, the loosened residues are scrubbed and simultaneously vacuumed up with the scrubber-dryer, working in overlapping lanes. The result: a resin-free floor that does not stick and is immediately ready for use – visually and functionally flawless.
This cleaning routine takes around two and a half hours each day, six times a week. “We tested various products. Ultimately, it was Reshine Sport that convinced us – thanks to its cleaning performance and, above all, its fresh fragrance,” explains the facility manager.
A fragrance to remember and performance that convinces
For the person responsible at Kreuzbleiche, it was not only the cleaning performance that mattered, but also the sensory effect and the convincing price-performance ratio. “The product we previously used had a very strong inherent odour. Reshine Sport, on the other hand, spreads a fresh, clean fragrance. Even the teachers notice it early in the morning,” explains Mr Lenherr.
Added to this is the attractive cost-effectiveness: with annual consumption reaching up to 2,000 litres, every centime counts. “Reshine Sport removes sticky resin residues from the floor efficiently, is economical, and leaves a pleasant atmosphere in the room. This is exactly the combination we were looking for,” says Werner Lenherr.
One hall, many requirements
At the Kreuzbleiche hall, operations run almost around the clock: commercial college classes during the day, handball, gymnastics club, volleyball or archery in the evening, and matches at the weekend. The cleaning team works in shifts – until 11:30 p.m.
“We deliberately don’t leave the cleaning to the handball players. What we do ourselves, we do thoroughly – and that way we know the halls are truly clean,” emphasises Werner Lenherr. With the use of Reshine Sport, even stubborn residues can be removed reliably – without any additional manual reworking.
Resin is tough – but Reshine Sport is tougher
In a hall where sport is practised daily, cleaning cannot be a mere afterthought: “I have already recommended Reshine Sport to colleagues who face similar hall contamination issues,” says Mr Lenherr.
For the Kreuzbleiche team, Reshine Sport provides reliable support in creating a clean foundation every single day – the basis for sporting excellence.
